In 1981 David commenced and employment as a Bookbinder at James Cook University, a skill he still practices today through the family business Australian Menus and Compendiums, where he works with his wife Helen. Ausmenus is commercial bindery based in Gordonvale where they create and manufacture restaurant menu covers and motel room compendiums. These beautiful menu covers are made from black buckram with gold foil stamping. Thee are a two piece cover and fastened with 3 brass inter screws. The covers are designed to house high quality sheet protectors to take A4 menu pages. 320mm x 245mm closed size
These books are half leather bound books with marron and gold foil on the spine. Using modern book materials bound in a traditional method. The internal pages are hand sewn.
Australian Menus and Compendiums are the market leaders in thesis binding within Australia. The prefer bookbinder for a number of universities these thesis are bound in black buckram to university specifications. The internals are sewn and foil stamping in gold foil.
Dinner menus, beverage menus, dessert menus and bill folds are all are all custom designed and manufactured in our workshop. This material is called Eclise and the cover is complimented with a silver foil stamped logo.
Buckram bound menus covers designed and manufactured for Lizard Island resort. These menus covers are 235mm x 235mm and take A4 paper in a landscape fashion with and fold on the left hand biding edge. The folded section slips into and internal pocket so the internals open similar to a book
Presentation folders manufactured in blue book cloth with metal gold corners. The internals have a buckram corner on each edge and are designed to hold a certificate
Family histories are bound in red buckram. Gold foil stamping on the spine in two volumes.
Digitally printed civer with a contrasting black buckram spine. Held together with sliver inter screws. These covers have an internal pocket and take A4 paper menus
